Driving down to Devon !

Our hard working Isle of Wight tour guide Christine was at it again this morning despite having already organised activities, cycle tours and dinners over our previous 2 days.

Having again survived our Hotel breakfast buffet competing for crumbs against the hungry hordes of geriatrics we packed our bikes and gear meeting Chris for a tour to the nearby Culver clifftops with its impressive 360 degree view ranging from Portsmouth back towards Southampton.

Using the opportunity i put my drone up in the air under the guidance of drone spotter extraordinaire KT Henley (aka Stevie Wonder) who ensured I was going to grab some fine pics without straying into any nearby air space !

A final coffee and expressions of sincere gratitude re Christine's fabulous hospitality and we hit the road largely retracing our cycle route towards Alum Bay where we parked our car and climbed the hill to the Tennyson monument perched pretty close to the edge of some damned high chalk cliffs.

While H turned his head into a beetroot by lounging about in the sun I set off at pace on a 6-7km return trip to the iconic Isle of Wight Needles just past the former Isle of Wight rocket testing range at the Isles western end.

Sightseeing done I used Henley's head as a beacon for my return journey before we both jumped into our car and took the short 4 mile journey to Yarmouth before the worlds "most" expensive ferry to Lymington back on the mainland.

From here it was 2hours of driving to Honiton in beautiful Devon where we plan on catching up with my wife's family, doing some local cycling and preparing for the heatwave about to slam into us as we head off later in the week to sunny Mallorca!
